Summer Hours

The Editorial team at the theRubicon extends our best wishes for a safe and relaxing summer to our readership, which we’re happy to let you know, has grown in numbers, diversity and willingness to comment since our launch in early spring.

If you’ll recall from the first email announcement theRubicon editors sought submissions in a number of categories: “Belief “(Faith); “Thought” (Ideas); “Creation” (Art & Literature); “Ecclesia” (Church); “Power” (Politics); “Ephemera “(Culture); “Urbanities” (City Life); “Personae” (Interviews).

If you look to the pane on the right you’ll see some distinct trends from our first quarter of publication. As of today June 30, the catagory “Ecclesia” is in the lead with 21 postings, followed by “Belief” with 19 and “Ephemera” 18; a substantial minority of posts are categorized under “Creation” (10), “Urbanities” (10), “Thought” (8) and “Power” (8).

We’re seeking more submissions under any category and we’d especially like visual art to increase the appeal of the site. If you’ve got a piece that speaks from your heart, but needs some polish, please pass it on talkback@theRubicon.org and our editorial team will make it shine!

Finally, in order to give the Editorial Team some R & R, we’re scaling back to two posts a week until after Labour Day (the first Monday in September); so look for new posts mid-week (Tuesday or Wednesday) and Friday. A special posting will made in honour of Canada Day(formerly Dominion Day), July 1 (tomorrow), so look, read and comment!
