Salvation Army’s Heritage Park Temple corps in Winnipeg, Canada. We chat about why tattoos are so popular, how his faith and culture collide and whether Christians should be getting ink’d. We also asked him to share some crazy tattoo stories with us about weirdest designs, odd tattoo locations or famous people he may have worked on. Don works out of Xtensive Variations in Winnipeg.

Why are tattoos such a big deal in The Salvation Army? I have 4 right now and all of them are Salvation Army related. I have been told over the years that they are not professional and that they are not very Christian.
Maybe I could agree with some of the above issues, but the one that always gets me is that there are people who think I’m a sinner. I’m not sure why people would consider me a sinner because I have decorated my temple. After all don’t we see a lot of women who wear makeup?
I wish people would just get over this issue and move on to the bigger concerns of society.
